Stake driving and pulling sound like hard, manual labor that was something farm hands or railroad workers did for a living centuries ago. This isn’t too far from the truth. What’s most surprising is that hundreds of years and countless technological improvements haven’t drastically improved this process for setting up a tent – that is until now.

Having seen the inefficiencies of the tent installation process first-hand, Scott Woodruff, the owner of Event Central was inspired to create a product that improved safety on the job site, decreased the time it took to install a tent and minimized damage to a customer’s property. More than a decade’s worth of research and refining resulted in Tent OX™, which was brought to market in May 2014.

What is Tent OX™? It’s a powerful piece of machinery with a fully-integrated system of 10 specialized tools designed for the tent and party rental industry. And it’s quickly becoming one of the most valuable tools to have on an event site! It serves as a stake driver and puller, fork lift, hook, push and hitch. It also has some significant advantages over the outdated methods and machineries that are still being used. Let’s take a closer look at these benefits – and what they mean to our customers!

1. Faster installation

Foremost, Tent OX™ gets the job done faster in several different ways. Its power allows our crew to move and install heavier items quicker. For a 60 wide tent, Tent OX™ can help reduce the crew requirement from 6 to 4, and still complete the installation in less time. Additionally, Tent OX™ makes us more competitive for long-distance jobs by allowing us to send a smaller crew who can complete the labor of a team one-third their size.

2. Increased safety

Driving stakes and pushing up the 25-foot center poles for a tent is a backbreaking, labor-intensive process when done manually. Tent OX™ provides the muscle while our crew instructs it what to do. This greatly reduces the risk of back injuries and employee fatigue from driving 8 dozen stakes. The safety of our crew is our highest priority. It also insures a smooth setup and tear down process on your property.

3. Less, but higher quality manpower

Because Tent OX™ replaces the most labor-intensive parts of tent installation, the process requires fewer crew members on the job site. Running this type of machinery also requires educated and experienced crew members. Our key players don’t burn out in five years because the work is too labor-intensive; they stay and grow with us. What this means for you is that you will have an extremely qualified team of professionals on your event site working with skill and efficiency to get the job done right.

4. Faster tear-down

When the party is over, you want to get your property back to its original state as quickly as possible. The Tent OX™ allows us to uninstall the tent with the same efficiency we used to install it. Stakes and poles are removed much easier with this new machinery. Tent OX™ also helps to reload the truck in record time to get us out of your way and on the road.

5. Less damage to property

The Tent OX™ is outfitted with turf friendly tires and weighs around 2000 lbs less than a skid-steer loader. The Tent Ox™’s loader also has articulated steering, allowing it to move about a work site without damaging the grass, a common occurrence with heavier Bobcat-style machines. We can’t imagine any venue that wouldn’t want its property protected, but especially for universities and turf fields, preserving the grass is critical.
