What We Love About “Busy Season” in the Event Rental Industry

Most industries have a “busy season,” or a time of year when everyone seems to want everything from you right now. In the event rental industry, this is mostly determined by nice weather and large annual events. Here in Central Pennsylvania, our busy season begins in April which is usually when the spring weather breaks. It continues well into the fall months when the weather finally starts to turn cooler in September and October.

So for roughly 7 months out of the year, we are in survival mode, making organization and timing all the more important! Despite the chaos and challenges that can arise during our busy season, there are also a few things we really like about being super busy. Take a look!

Problem Solving

It seems to be Murphy’s Law during our busy season. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement, but there’s no lack of problems and surprise situations that arise when we’re running from job to job. In the moment, this can be extremely challenging, but there’s extreme satisfaction we receive when we can find a solution to a complicated problem. It’s like a real-life Sudoku!

Never a Boring Day

During our busy season, no two days are the same and we certainly aren’t sitting around watching the clock. Staying busy really makes the time fly by. Sure, we’re likely tired and sore when we get home, but knowing that we worked hard and accomplished some pretty big feats is a great feeling.

Seeing How Teamwork Makes All the Difference

It goes without saying that every job requires teamwork, big or small. Several back-to-back small jobs in a day can be just as challenging (and tiring) as one big job. It really requires us working together to ensure an event is set up on time and with every i dotted and t crossed. During our busy season, more than ever, we appreciate the power of teamwork.

Winning the Day for Our Customers

Finally, and possibly our favorite part of our busy season, is exceeding our clients’ expectations. Sometimes people call upon us to help them fix a difficult situation, like a last minute rental or the need for a bigger tent due to inclement weather. When we’re able to accommodate their special requests and make their event possible, they are truly grateful. It’s awesome to help make someone’s day a whole lot better!

In your career, when do you experience your busy season and what do you love about it?
