Michele Engle’s Event to raise 20K for Leukemia

April 19′th update

Good news!   The event was a great success.  Look back for another post with pictures and a recap of the event’s accomplishments!

Below is the Pre-event post.  STW

Recently Michele Engle decided to step up the fight against Leukemia & Lymphoma, by joining their Annual fundraiser “Man & Woman of the Year”.  Michele’s goal is to raise $20,000  in her competition against area business people. Michele is the Account Executive  for the Central Penn Business Journal where EC does some advertising.

Like any fundraiser, you have to spend money to make money.  engleMichele had been to a successful Casino Night at Harrisburg Regional Chamber Business Expo Preview Party.  Of course the money spent on the Banquet facilities comes right out off the bottom line of donated money for the event.    Michele had attended Event Central’s 20th Anniversary Party and seen the success of hosting 250 clients.  So she approached our sales staff about using Journal Publications Warehouse, but after seeing the site, our event consultant suggested Event Central’s warehouse (during  off season), would be better suited to host the Casino Night in the Tent Wash Bay and the Adjacent 12 Ft wide aisles between  Tents, dishes and glasses.

Michele will be transforming about 4000 Square feet into a Casino Hall, with a  Food and Beverage area and an educational display on the Leukemia & Lymphoma challenge.  BRP Entertainment will provide Pit Boss Crew and half the gaming tables. Other providers for this great fund raiser will be Don and Carla Noss of Sir D’s Catering, Pete Dibacco of Premier Production Services for lighting and Event Central will provide the facility, lots of tables, chairs, linens and carpeting.  And Elvis himself will be visiting along with his host Nick Ferraro.

Michele, has set a lofty goal of $20,000 because she wants to invest in others misfortunes.  Leukemia’s are the most common cancers in children and young adults under the age of 18. Each dollar raised in Michele’s name counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most donations is named our local Man or Woman of the Year.
